An alumnus of the Yeshivos of Gateshead and Brisk, Shimon trained as an Adult Psychotherapist at Regent’s University London, receiving UKCP registration before taking further training under Chana’s auspices to become an accredited Psychosexual and Relationship Psychotherapist. He has received Semicha (Rabbinic ordination) from Rabbi S F Zimmerman, the head of Chana’s Rabbinic Panel.
Shimon has extensive clinical experience in various mental health charities and the NHS, and currently maintains a private practice alongside his work at Chana. Since moving to Israel in 2023, he has continued his work at Chana remotely. He works with both individuals and couples.
Alongside his therapeutic work at Chana, Shimon assists Chana clients in his Rabbinic Liaison role with the many Halachic questions that arise in the course of fertility challenges, consulting with the Rabbinic Panel on their behalf as necessary. He also supports Rabbis and Rebbetzins with clarifying the medical side of the Halachic questions that come their way. Shimon is the creator and editor of Pekidah, Chana’s journal of Halacha and fertility, and produces literature and other resources for relevant audiences.
As Clinical and Educational Manager, Shimon supports the therapeutic team in working with complex situations, and is responsible for staff training on an ongoing basis. He also presents externally for Chana, to varied audiences, on fertility-related topics.
