Halachic Support

For a Jewish couple, infertility is not just a matter of medicine. It also involves complex questions of Halacha (Jewish law), which interact with a couple’s medical situation in often subtle and intricate ways. In a similar way to the medical facts of a couple’s journey, confronting these questions can often feel confusing and daunting for people as they try to navigate their way through them. It can be hard to know which questions need asking, how to ask them, and who will be able to answer them from a position of both Halachic and medical understanding.

At Chana, we work within a Halachic framework, and are privileged to have the constant support and guidance of our Rabbinic Panel, each of whom is an acknowledged expert in the field of infertility in Halacha. Every couple is supported through their individual medical and emotional process with an equally bespoke level of Halachic support, that takes into account not only the specifics of their fertility journey but the overall context of their life situation. Your Support Worker is available to help you clarify the Halachic parameters of your individual situation, and to assist you in formulating specific questions where appropriate. Sometimes people can find it difficult to ask Halachic questions themselves, and Chana is able to ask questions on your behalf from a Rabbi of your choice, if this is what you would prefer.
