Dr Veronique Berman

In-house Scientific Advisor

I Chair Chana’s Medical Advisory Panel, which meets quarterly, liaising with 29 experts in all disciplines within the field of male and female reproductive health to ensure clients receive the best possible advice, are accessing the right treatment and therefore receive the best possible outcome; liaising with individual members of this panel on behalf of clients to seek responses to individual queries. I work alongside professional regulatory bodies such as the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority HFEA, the Alliance of Fertility Partnership Organisation, which includes all other charities within the fertility sector.  This enables me to be at the forefront of any new medical advancement offered by clinics and to pass on this knowledge onto Chana clients. I can then pass on this knowledge in my role as Community Development Manager, ensuring religious leaders and relevant organisations within the Jewish communities such as the London Beth Din and many Jewish charities such as Chai and Jnetics are aware of Chana’s developing services so they can refer clients to us where appropriate and that those clients are, in turn, aware of what is happening throughout the fertility world. I have a BSC in Biochemistry and a PHD in Medical Molecular Endocrinology for which my original research was in the genetics of delayed puberty and infertility. Before working for Chana, I was a Senior Scientist in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory in Haematology at the Hammersmith and Royal Free hospitals in London, overseeing research teams and lecturing. I feel privileged I can use my many years of experience in the health service to help my community, which I hold dear. I love that there is an element of nothing is ever what it seems in my work and that by seeking an answer to a question you never know where it will lead. When we get the wonderful news of a birth for a client, it is always touching to be part of the most personal and sensitive part of someone’s life.
